Back from AWOL! 07/18/2010

I'm back! Did you miss me? Having Steve home on leave was super fun, but now that it's over I can see how quickly time flew by. Isn't that just typical? We wait and wait for leave, anticipating our time together and then it's here and over before we know it. Oh well, at least there is light on the horizon in the form of more vacations, our future together and many other developments!

I know, it's a little early in the week to be asking that question, but I've just had pretty bad days the last two days and have been anticipating Steve's leave for a while. So now that it's nearly here time, of course, is playing tricks on me and moving super slow, which isn't helping with the whole patience thing.

Ready... 06/24/2010

for a break! Yes, I finally will have a full TWO DAY break starting tomorrow from work! Woo hoo! I am SO excited to finally have a tiny bit of time off! This wouldn't be a big deal except I have worked every day since June 12th at one or both jobs.

That was two weeks ago, people! R
ight now I'm just really really needing some time away from the law firm and library because I've spent a lot of hours at both places or en route between jobs a few nights a week the past two weeks. Thankfully that is over, for a little while at least. And the paychecks will be sweet! :)

Almost Here! 06/20/2010

Now that my wonderful work week is close to finishing up (albeit I'll be working tomorrow, too, and my next day of no work at all is Friday!), I can focus a little more on the positive things coming up - like Steve's leave! I'm so excited to spend time with him again soon. We have so much to do while he's here, like wedding band shopping, completing our registries and engagement pics, amongst date nights, days of me working and a trip to the lake with friends, but it's going to be fun!

This week work-wise has been interesting, to say the least. I went from thinking I would have all this free time to work out, but now...well, that's change drastically.

It all began yesterday. As I left the law firm, the receptionist stopped me and began telling me about all the things that need to be done when I cover her 8 hour shift the next 3 days. I listened and was nice (she's an older lady, I wasn't going to be rude!), but didn't have the heart to tell her no one asked me if I could work for her! Ahhh! Thankfully my coworker (the more experienced legal assistant) called me later about it. I didn't have a problem with doing it, but I do have another job, you know? Basically now I've gone from maybe 20 hours this week to 48 hours between today and Sunday night. Wow!

Shaping Up! 06/14/2010

As of today, I have 200 days before I'm a married woman! Scary, right? So, I figure why not use that time to look great and get healthier? I began working out more last week, but am trying to incorporate work outs in my schedule as much as I can.

Before college, I was more athletic; I did volleyball one season of high school, and track and cross country for 2 and 3 years, respectively. I was in GREAT shape before freshman year of college, but since then have slacked off, devoting the time I used to have to work out 3 hours for 5 days a week into my classes or work. But that all is changing!

Hidden Jewel 06/09/2010

Before work today, I decided to have lunch in Forest Park, a short drive East of work. I knew exactly where I wanted to go before I entered the park: the Jewel Box, a well-known glass building that houses beautiful flowers and is even available for weddings, if you can schedule the date far enough in advance.

Anyway, while many people might come to see the Jewel Box if they visit Forest Park, another "hidden jewel" many do not know about or might overlook is right next to it.

After months of saving up, I finally bought tires in late May to mount on my car. Mine were getting worn down, so it was best I got them ordered ASAP and mounted soon after that. To my surprise, though, they were the wrong size, and it took a long time to figure that out!

Big Thank Yous 06/04/2010

“Friends are the family we choose for ourselves” - Edna Buchanan

This week has been very difficult for me. Between family issues, the usual wedding planning craziness, and Steve being gone in the field for who knows how long this month, there have been considerably less happy moments than I would like. Thank goodness for friends!

Last night, I was on Skype with Steve for a while. It was an enjoyable conversation, but it made me really miss spending time with him in person. As I looked back on all of the time we have been together, however, I've realized those times where we have been together in person - not separated by an ocean and some land, or separated a few states - are few and far between.
