A quick note from Megan Harris, writer/editor at MeganWrites Media

I never would have imagined a year ago I would not only write about wedding topics, but would love doing it as a major part of my freelance writing business. This time last year, I wasn't a freelance writer yet, but had considered it. I took the plunge in June 2011 and had my first wedding client, which was a start-up blog and wedding community online. Today, I love writing as a freelance  in the wedding niche especially!

The wedding niche is particularly rewarding to me because the clients I work for are so creative, driven and passionate about their work. I love getting the chance to help their business grow. I love seeing their innovation and their ability to make their clients - today's brides, grooms and their families - happy with what they provide.

What's happening lately with wedding writing? Here are some hints:
  • Blogs are always needed - I cannot tell you how many I write for or who my clients are, as the work is ghostwritten, but it's steady work! Everyone is getting prepared for the summer 2012 wedding season.
  • Social media is huge for weddings - Use Twitter or Pinterest and you'll easily find a number of prospective brides and wedding enthusiasts talking about the industry or pinning their favorite wedding accessories and photos.
  • Lots of website content revisions - Businesses are realizing the importance of SEO and copywriting. They come to pros like me to get it done!

Writing for weddings is rewarding not only because of the passion of my clients, but because it challenges me to think creatively. Not only do I have to think about what brides might want on their big day, but have to find a way for my clients - mostly wedding vendors - to fill that need.

I love writing for the wedding niche - as a freelancer, I find it to be quite fascinating to see what's trending and how my clients can find success in their wedding businesses!

We need your help!

At MeganWrites Media, we take pride in what we provide for our clients. One of our specialities, wedding writing, has led us to ponder creating a website rewrite ebook just for wedding enthusiasts.

Wedding websites of all kinds, from vendor sites to editorials, sometimes struggle with website design and language. How can you use SEO to attract local clients or your target market? What website marketing tips and tricks make for higher traffic? What do successful sites do to reach out to users?

We hope that from publishing an ebook just for wedding websites we will help provide more tools that the wedding community can use to improve their business!

If you are a wedding blog owner, a wedding vendor (DJ, photographer, or florist), please take our quick survey to help us get started!
